Transfer Tracker 2022
Because knowing who will be playing where is pretty essential to the wheelchair basketball viewing experience.
Let’s face it, we’ve all been here:
"Hang on, since when did he/she play for them? Did they announce the signing and I missed it?" "Ah yeah, I forgot that <player/club name> doesn't have any social media and that, in actuality, these are real people joining real organisations to earn a real living, not just some digital matchmaking that may as well be fantasy football. I shouldn't assume that just because this wasn't expressed to me via algorithm-selected TikTok dance video that it can't have happened." "Anyway, enough of the existential spiraling. Who left to open up the spot to sign this guy/girl? Where does that person play now? Come to think of it, what classification are both of them?" "Actually, that guy/girl does have social media. Found it! Oh look, they did allude to their 'next adventure', but declined to elaborate. Only got 14 likes. Bet they wish they'd just straight-up announced it and saved themselves the humiliation." "Hmm, their last post about a being 'back to the grind after a big win' is all the way back in January. Did they not play again after that last season? Is this one of those mutually-(but-very-silently-and-therefore-somewhat-suspiciously-)agree-to-part-ways type situations?" "Ah ok, yes, they can play this lineup. Smart move by this Spanish club to sign this guy/girl and put him/her up in a regular apartment as opposed to a retirement home, therefore making him/her still eligible for the junior point deduction." "Glad I got to the bottom of that, it was really going to bug me otherwise." "Hold up, look who's getting ready to sub in on the other team! Since when did he/she play for them?"
And so on.
Which is where the Bench Units Transfer Tracker comes in!
Before we get into the good stuff, we’d appreciate it if you’d take a second to support us by clicking one (or more) of the below buttons!
The 2021/22 wheelchair basketball season is in the books and, while the ink isn’t yet dry, that means that teams and players have had agreements in place for a while now not a minute before it was strictly allowed.
This blog post will be updated regularly with all the confirmed arrivals and departures that we know about. We won’t be documenting any non-public knowledge or rumours that we’ve heard, because that is very much not our job. That said, we do accept that we’re doing this without a single source of truth, and that reading auto-translated statements that may conflict with others might not always help us to get it exactly right. If you see something that you think we might have misunderstood and gotten wrong, let us know.
On top of that, we really want to open this up to our audience! So if you notice that our published list is missing a signing (i.e. you’ve got a more reliable source of transfer juice than we have), please let us know! Please don’t take it personally if we ask for some evidence that what you’re saying is true.
Alright, Enough foreplay. Let’s get caught up on who plays where now.
