What’s up, everybody?
Mark here. Taking full advantage of the time that James is 8 timezones away to launch the newest Bench Units venture and stir up as much controversy as I can before he wakes up and tells me to take it all down so he doesn't get sent home from Tokyo.
What is Bench Units?
For those of you who are just finding us, myself and James run The Bench Units Podcast, which you can check out here or subscribe to on whatever podcast app you use. We talk wheelchair basketball and basketball in general, plus whatever we get sidetracked onto during any given episode.
We both love podcasting, and we really appreciate what seems to be an ever-growing trickle of support in our direction. For a while now, we’ve talked about how the podcasts we produce don’t give us quite enough scope to dive deep on some topics we’d like to, and that the audio side of things is maybe best suited to focusing on guests. So it was time to diversify, and that’s lead us to Substack.
What to expect
If I’d have given it enough thought, I’d probably have set this Substack page up well in advance of the Paralympics beginning today and had it ready to launch some pre-prepared content onto. That hasn’t happened, so I’m winging it on the opening day of the tournament. James would be proud.
This seemed like the way to go forward in getting our Paralympics coverage out, as there are some limitations around the practicalities of recording a 2-person podcast when there’s an 8-hour time difference and your co-host is on a strict competition schedule. Me and James aren’t yet sure what our podcast coverage of the event is going to be, so the plan is for me to give a daily round-up of the wheelchair basketball games on here, and any audio we manage to publish is a bonus.
Spread the word!
So, on that note, I highly recommend that you hit this subscribe button:
Once subscribed, you’ll get an email to let you know when the round-up article drops each day throughout the Paralympics.
So subscribe, read, comment and share!
Really looking forward to covering all the games, hope you guys enjoy reading.
